天津新技术产业园区于1988年3月建立,1991年3月经国务院批准为国家高新技术产业开发区。几年来在国家科委和天津市委、市政府领导下,园区从无到有,发展壮大。截至到1994年底,园区开发土地7平方公里,开工面积60万平方米,竣工面积35.7万平方米,新建高新技术企业1573家,内资企业总投资8.7亿元,外资企业总投资3.4亿美元,各项经济指标连年翻番,1994年技工贸总收入达到41.5亿元,利税总额5.6亿元,出口额9500万美元。可以说园区已经走过了起步阶段,进入了新的发展时期。

It can be said that the park has already passed the initial stage and entered a new period of development.
