A new red clover cultivars, Marathon in May 1987 by both USDA-ARS and Wisconsin Agricultural Experimental Station launched. Three years of planting in the northern part of the United States (the second harvest year) show that Marathon is a high-yielding cultivar that is resistant to cold and disease.
