1931年9月18日,“九一八事变”爆发,日本人公然侵占中国东北三省,暴露其侵华野心。“七七卢沟桥事变”再起,日军全面侵华开始,全民抗战军兴。在民族生死存亡的关键时刻,湘雅师生同仇敌忾,爱国热情高涨。学院收留了来自战区的借读生,收治了无数名伤病员;组织抗日专题演讲,参加一线战地救护。甚至有师生投笔从戎,直接参加战斗。为中华民族抗战胜利立下不可磨灭的卓越功勋、不穿军装、不拿枪炮的湘雅人,谱写了颇具“南湘雅”特色的抗战高歌。
On September 18, 1931, the “September 18 Incident” broke out and the Japanese blatantly occupied the three northeastern provinces of China and exposed their ambitions to invade China. “Seventy-seven Marco Polo Bridge Incident ” resurgence, the Japanese invasion of China began all over, the All-China Resistance and War revival. At the crucial moment of national survival and death, teachers and students of Xiangya joined forces with their enemies to rise in patriotic enthusiasm. For the victory of the Chinese nation to set an indelible mark of excellence, Xiangya who does not wear military uniform and does not take guns, wrote a song marked by “Nanxiang Ya” featuring resistance to the war.
