没骨画在中国古代绘画中早有此法的应用。据记载,南北朝时期的张僧繇曾在建康一乘寺用朱及青绿画凹凸花。传其作《观碑图》亦俱色彩画成,因此,张僧繇被视为没骨法的开创者。唐代画家杨升受到张僧繇的影响,用此方法绘制山水画,人们将杨升的画称为没骨山水画。到了宋代又有了以徐崇嗣、赵昌为代表的没骨花卉。至明代,没骨画技法有
