1959年在全国各个省(区)普遍开展了桥涵水文研究工作,于11月17日至24日在北京公路科学研究所召开了公路桥涵水文综合研究成果总结会议,会议主要讨论了:“604—1大规模水利化对桥涵水文的影响”;“604—9径流标准和小桥涵孔径计算规范草案”;“604—2桥墩局部冲刷公式的验证与研究”。关于桥墩局部冲刷公式的验证与研究,交流总结了经验,拟另提出更为完备的验证方法为明年大力开展这方面的研究
