Exercise training is increasingly being used as a treatment for coronary heart disease. It may enhance cardiovascular function, favorably affect certain predisposing factors and reduce mortality from fatal myocardial infarction. This article gives a brief introduction of the effects of several exercise programs, the physiological context of exercise training, and exercise guidelines for patients with coronary heart disease.
