莎车县位于祖国的西南边陲,地处昆仑山北麓崇岭帕米尔高原与塔什拉玛干之间。气候干燥,生长季节多干热风和浮尘天气。多年来,在党的正确方针指导下,在广大群众的共同努力下,全县130万亩耕地,实现林网化面积达124万亩,占耕地面积的96.9％。造林保存面积为35.86万亩,现有林木11140万株,人均247株。全县耕地林木覆盖率达20.78％,平原绿洲林木覆盖率达6.5％,土地林木覆盖率达3.5％。1986年获得国家林业先进集体奖。
