American schoolchildren can get a school library card printed with their own name and student number when they enroll in the school. As a general rule in elementary schools in the United States, pupils go to the school library every Monday to register their books, take them home and read them back every Friday. The first grade primary school students can borrow one book per week. For each grade increase, the maximum amount of books borrowed is one. Schools also make full use of library resources to encourage students to read as a way of spiritual leisure. During lunchtime after lunch time, students can freely access the all-day open school library, read paper books or read electronic children’s books using the computer in addition to being on the playground.
