1.佛手瓜(又叫合掌瓜)是多年生的草本蔓性植物,分叉力强,一般分叉10至15条,最多达25条以上。主茎一般不结瓜,分枝蔓条,节节都会结瓜。2.佛手瓜深根耐肥,抗病虫,适应性广。根群发达分布广,适于土层深厚、疏松、湿润的土壤栽植。3.佛手瓜生长期长,结瓜期也长。一般“春分”前后抽芽发蔓。海拔700公尺以下地区,“小满”前后开始开花结果,海拔700公尺以上地区,“夏至”前后开始开花结果。全生育期250～280天。由于结瓜期长,一年中有半年以上时间可上市供应。
