Preface: A survey by the British Association of Fluid Mechanics (BHRA) and many sealed users has consistently shown that 70% -80% of pump failures are due to mechanical seal failure. Some failures are related to inadequate installation, poor manufacturing quality and poor maintenance. Because of these factors will often shorten the seal life.
