In early 1962, I was transferred back to China from the military attache of the Chinese Embassy in Nepal. Returned to Beijing in June and served as the English translator of the Lieutenant’s rank in a research institute of the General Staff Department. In late October, when the Chinese People’s Liberation Army started the self-defense rebel attack on the Indian army, I was ordered to go to the front line headquarters of the Qamdo Chang-Tuk in Tibet to carry out the task.
