叶涛同志并转全体与会代表: 我因赴三峡考察(涉及立项),不能参加在乳山开的年会,十分遗憾!但是我很想参加这个会,因为田野也是我最感兴趣的工作。 田野作业是民俗学研究的前提和基本功,尤其在当前,强调田野调查具—有重大意义:一、田野如同读书,在某种意义上又胜于读书,是获得和占有民俗资料的重要渠道;二、文献记录的民俗事象挂一漏万,而且不具体,民间的民俗则是活生生的,既可补充文献记载之不足,又可有许多新的发现;三、今日中国巨变,民俗大改,用不了三、五年,至多七、八年,目前极易看到的民俗就会消失掉,因此,我们的田野调查具有抢救性,刻不容缓,这是历史赐予我们的重任,决不该等困视之。
