Thiolactomycin (TLM) is an antibiotic produced by the authors from Nocardia sp. NO2-200 isolated from the soil of Sayama, Saitama, Japan (1977). It was found that it inhibits bacterial and plant fatty acid synthase (Type II enzyme) at low concentrations (2μM) and inhibits the activity of animal and fungal fatty acid synthase (Type Ⅰ enzyme) during the study of its mechanism of action.
