现在很多从事煤和瓦斯突出研究的人员认为,致使突出的主要能源是矿山压力和蕴藏在煤孔隙中的瓦斯能。矿山压力起到准备作用——在巷道工作面附近形成裂隙、应力集中和压力差及其他;而瓦斯起主要作用——破坏煤体,并向巷道带出被破坏的煤。这样的见解是合乎规律的,因为瓦斯的能量超过在矿山压力作用下煤层弹性压缩能量。
