光绪壬寅(1902年)四月,太谷学派同人在上海愚园举行了一次聚会,称愚园雅集。这是太谷学派历史上的一个重要事件,刘鹗也参加了这次聚会,并写有《题愚园雅集图抚本后并序》。这份文件,对研究刘鹗与太谷学派的关系有很高的史料价值。然而其中有误,迄今未见人拣出。而此误所以产生的原因,则能反映出刘鹗与太谷学派关系的一个侧面,故值得加以专门考辨。
Guangxu Renyin (1902) In April, Taigu School colleagues held a party in Shanghai Yuyuan, saying that the Yu Garden was elegant. This is an important event in the history of Taigu school. Liu Xuan also participated in the meeting and wrote a series of articles entitled “Collection of Prefaces and Collection of Prefaces by Yu Garden.” This document has a very high historical value for studying the relationship between Liu Xie and Taigu School. However, there are mistakes, so far no one picked out. The reason why this mistake is produced can reflect one aspect of the relationship between Liu Xie and the Taigu school, so it deserves to be specially examined.
