上海第二钢铁厂是一家具有48年历史,以生产线材和金属制品为主的冶金骨干企业,共有8个生产车间,其中4个轧钢车间、3个金属制品车间、1个从美国引进的高速线材车间。1989年,全厂工业总产值5.61亿元,实现利税1.54亿元,成品钢材68.5万吨,金属制品2.9万吨,商品坯23.1万吨,上缴利税连续11年翘亿元,并在1989年上海市工业系统14家利税逾亿元的企业中名列第9位。在由国务院发展研究中心和国家统计局联合发布的《1989年我国500家大企业名单》中排列为第67位。
