糖尿病并发症以心脏病变及脑血管病变多见,且对患者预后影响甚大。作者长期随访1,850例糖尿病患者,以观察上述并发症的发生率及其危险因素。男1,133例,女717例。随访时间不足5年者695例(37.6%),5~9年者683例(36.9%),10年及以上者472例(25.5%),平均随访7.1年。初诊时,既往有心脏病病史者68例,有脑血管病病史者24例。除外此72例,随访结果表明:先前无心脏病史的男性计1,067例,在随访中发生心血管病变79例,占7.4%,其中死于心脏病者43例,心肌梗塞或心绞瘤者36例;先前无心脏病史的女性673例,新发生心血管病变29例,占4.3%,其中死于心脏病
