正常的狗胆汁中未能分离出细菌L型或细菌型;体外胆汁诱导试验显示狗的胆汁可诱导出革兰氏阴性细菌的L型;将大肠杆菌(ATCC25922)注入狗胆囊内48小时后抽取胆汁进行培养,结果显示细菌型与L型均生长。另一组狗胆囊内注射大肠杆菌(ATCC25922)L型。将胆囊内注射细菌型和L型的狗喂养6个月后,其胆汁中仍能分离出细菌型合并L型。取胆囊作病理切片,显微镜下可见胆囊呈慢性炎症改变:粘膜轻度萎缩、粘膜下有白细胞、淋巴细胞浸润,粘膜细胞内可找到细菌L型,囊壁内有轻度纤维增生。
