近年来,高等职业教育服务经济社会的能力有了较大提高,对完善我国高等教育结构发挥了积极作用。在高等职业教育发展过程中,一些纷纷脱离行业主管的院校在建立适合本校发展的教育模式和发展道路中,积极探索与原行业合作办学的新路子,初步形成了自己的办学特色。武汉铁路职业技术学院是一所标准的以铁路为主要服务对象的全日制普通高校,下放到地方以后,学院一方面通过专业改造,积极为地方服务,另一方面,保持和加强与铁路部门的联系,积极探索工学结合模式以及建立校企联合办学的长效机制,使学院在为地方经济和铁路技术创新改造服务的结合上壮大了办学实力,教育教学质量不断提高。
