苏杂二号系江苏省农科院蔬菜所最新选配的西瓜一代杂种(85-1×84-E),具有早熟、优质、稳产等特点.该品种开花期比苏密一号早2天～3天,采收期与苏密一号相当,产量比苏密一号平均增产22.4%,比8424(新优3号、早佳)平均增产12%以上.苏杂二号在1990年全国南方早熟西瓜品种评比中荣获一等奖.一、特征特性 植株生长势较强,耐湿性强,座果率高,早熟.第一雌花出现在主蔓第5节～7节,以后每隔5节出现雌花,平均单株座果1.5个以上,果实高圆形,皮色墨绿,有不明显网纹,平均单瓜重3kg～4kg,皮薄约1.0cm,瓜瓤鲜红质细,汁多籽少,风味好.瓜中心折光糖11%～12%,边糖9%,果实开花至成熟28天～30天,亩产2500kg以上.
