作为Windows的另一个分支，Windows Embedded--直以来就与Windows的发展保持着同步。10月13日，也就是在Windows7桌面操作系统正式发布前10天，微软向市场发布了新一代的Windows Embedded Enterprise和Windows Embedded Server平台的RTM（release to manufacturing）版本。
