本研究在国内外多年研究的基础上,利用玉米br-2基因的致矮特性,根据基因重组的原理,通过各种杂交方式和选择,使抗病、抗倒、窄叶片等许多优良基因与br-2基因很好地结合,克服了原br-2基因型矮生自交系节间短、叶宽重叠密集、雌雄不协调、授粉不良等一系列缺点,育成了一批具有应用价值的优良矮生系和冀单20号等矮生杂交种,在单基因矮生特性运用于玉米育种研究上取得了进展.
