山阴有个县官,搜刮钱财,无恶不作,老百姓都恨之入骨。可他却标榜自己清正廉明,还在县衙大门上贴出了一副对联:“眼前皆赤子,头上有青天。”徐文长(徐渭,明代文学家)见了很气愤,一天趁着黑夜,跑到县衙门口,提笔把对联改成了:“眼前皆赤地,头上有黑天。”老百姓见了,个个拍手称好,县官气得翘起了胡子。他得知是徐文长改的对联,就命手下人把徐文长传来问罪。徐文长当然心中有数,一见县官,故意问:“大人传我有何事?”县官惊堂木一拍,双眼一瞪,喝道:“大胆徐文长,你为何把本官大门口的对联改掉?”
