石础是古代建筑中用以支承柱子的基石,因其形似鼓状而得名(?)磴。据姚承祖原著《营造法原》称:(?)磴——柱底与磉石间之石础,凡饰以花纹、禽兽图案者都称花(?)磴。石础虽在古代建筑中地位并不显著,但它能起到起平、隔潮、保护木柱的特殊作用。从美学角度来看,它与砖雕、门楣等装饰建筑艺术小品一样,富于装饰美、图案美、人文景观美,它又在一定程度上反映建造住宅的主人文化素养和艺术欣赏水平。石础
