抗日战争时期的1939年,延安已成为领导全国抗日力量的中心,大批革命青年涌入这块革命圣地.这既给边区增加了大量的新鲜血液,也带进来各种复杂的思想影响.因此,时任中央宣传部长和马列学院院长的张闻天请刘少奇去给学员讲一讲思想修养的问题.刘少奇于当年7月份两次作了《论共产党员的修养》的讲演.他上的党课受到了学员们的热烈欢迎,使他们懂得了一个共产党员对党组织对广大人民所应负的责任和自己努力的方向.
In 1939 during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Yan’an had become the center that led the national anti-Japanese forces and a large number of revolutionary youth poured into this revolutionary place of holiness, which not only added a lot of fresh blood to the border area but also brought in various complicated thought influences, Zhang Wentian, then minister of Central Propaganda Department and Dean of the Marxism-Leninism Institute, invited Liu Shao-chih to give lectures on the issue of ideological accomplishment. Liu Shaoqi made a speech titled “On Cultivation of Communists” twice in July of that year. The students warmly welcomed them and made them understand the responsibility of a party member toward the party and the direction of its own efforts.
