Based on the dynamic panel data of 24 industrial sectors from 1997 to 2007, this paper empirically analyzes the impact of physical outsourcing and service outsourcing on CO2 emissions respectively. The results show that: the proportion of CO2 emissions implied by China’s international outsourcing is rising while the proportion of CO2 emissions implied by domestic investment is declining; the reciprocal U-shape relationship between per capita output and CO2 emissions is insignificant; the physical outsourcing and service outsourcing have a significant impact on China’s industrial CO2 The effect of emission reduction is better than that of service outsourcing. With the passage of time, in-kind outsourcing can reduce the emission of CO2, and service outsourcing and CO2 emission may show an inverted U-shaped relationship that firstly increases and then decreases. The impact of international outsourcing on polluting industries and clean industries on CO2 emissions is different.
