From December 4 to December 10, 2000, the Sustainable Development of Cities in China and France - the Forum on Urban Environment and Imagery will be held at the China Building Culture Center in Beijing. The event was jointly supported by the Ministry of Construction, the China Association of Mayors, and the French Ministry of Facilities, Transportation and Housing (Ministry of Construction) and the French Association of Metropolitan Mayors. The China Urban Planning Association and the French Institute of Planning Association jointly sponsored the event. The notice issued by the General Office of the Ministry of Construction pointed out that both China and France are ancient civilizations with a long history.
