石棉具有致癌性。现代工业已广泛应用石棉,如石棉布、石棉磨料、石棉水泥、石棉导管、瓦片、载重地板、唧筒衬垫、锅炉和轮船的上部结构等。60年来世界石棉产量增加1000倍以上(石油仅50倍)。石棉的主要危险是以尘埃形式吸入呼吸道,又因其使用广泛,在自然界中不会破坏,故已成为大气环境中的污染物。鉴于肺癌与石棉肺的关系已比较肯定,因而作者对喉癌与石棉接触的关系进行了调查分析,
