褐家鼠在我国分布很广,但侵入新疆的历史不长。据既往资料,1958年以前新疆境内未发现家鼠属鼠类。自1963年兰新铁路正式开通后,该鼠随客、货车相继进入新疆,最早发现于1975年(北京至乌鲁木齐旅客列车),1979年8月首次在地面上发现褐家鼠(吐鲁番乘务公寓)。我们于1990年3月了解到,从红层至乌鲁木齐(西)沿途各站均获得毒毙褐家鼠,且为优势种,
