As requirements for productivity, quality, and utilization continue to increase, machines have become more complex and capital intensive. The formulation of a maintenance strategy is a difficult task and it encounters many problems and often lacks a systematic and consistent approach. In addition, as the process of developing a maintenance strategy is linked to those departments that are interested in maintenance, it is difficult to satisfy all of these departments simultaneously and at the same time meet the business goals. On the other hand, the formulation of a maintenance strategy can be said to be a one-man-job process, which, unlike the collective decision-making process, often has the opposite effect. This is because, in addition to the objectionable and objectionable nature of the personnel involved, the result will lack a comprehensive program. Therefore, it is clear that developing a maintenance strategy is an iterative process involving different decision makers with conflicting goals. In obtaining these strategies, service managers often try to meet multiple objectives, sometimes with conflicting goals such as productivity, utilization, and quality, spare parts, people, and technology governed by manufacturing schedules. This article uses the AHP methodology to analyze the process of strategy formulation and to evaluate the appropriate maintenance strategy. A unique feature of AHP compared to other decision analysis methods is that it allows some subjective factors to be included in reaching the proposed decision. It also provides feedback and sensitivity analysis on the consistency of many judgments. So it is a practical and powerful way of formulating a maintenance strategy.
