肥胖是指身体的脂肪量超过正常。但是,判定肥胖却存在两个问题,第一是脂肪量的测定法,第二是确定正常值。从生物学角度看,没有绝对的标准,而且正常值也因测定法不同而不一样。首先阐述测定法,然后阐述正常值和判定标准。脂肪量的测定法脂肪量的测定除了从身体、体重和皮下脂肪厚度推测等力法以外,还有许多方法,这些方法需要许多复杂设备、经费和时间,而且十分麻烦,况且精确度非常差。而实用性强,精确度好的脂肪量测定法仍未能研究出来。所以,至今实际上仍广泛采用身长、体重和皮下脂肪厚度来推测。从这点来看与血压测定所面临的问题相类似。
