位于济南郊外的山东机器局是晚清洋务派在地方创办的一家省级中型军火企业,也是山东境内出现的第一家近代企业。它的出现,开创了山东使用机器生产的先河。但是,在当时清政府财政十分拮据的情况下,山东机器局能够成为晚清官办企业中较为突出的一个,是与原山东巡抚丁宝桢的正确筹划密不可分的。(一)丁宝桢(一八二○—一八八六年),字稚璜,贵州平远州人。咸丰三年进士,改翰林院庶吉士。咸丰四年,以镇压杨隆喜起义军而升职。同治二年,被授以山东按察使,同治三年,迁布政使。因与捻军作战中表现出色,同治六年二月升任
The Shandong Machinery Bureau, which is located on the outskirts of Jinan, is a provincial-level medium-sized arms enterprise established by the late Qing Dynasty Westernization School and the first modern enterprise in Shandong Province. Its emergence has created a precedent for the use of machinery in Shandong.
