With the development of our country’s economy, there have been many projects with large volumes, many investments, and high standards. Designers often encounter the situation that the length of the building exceeds the distance between the expansion joints specified in the specification in the monomer design. How to reasonably determine the distance between the expansion joints based on the specifications is the problem discussed in this paper. The temperature deformation of the reinforced concrete structure and the shrinkage of the concrete directly affect the distance between the expansion joints of the reinforced concrete structure. Temperature deformation is the thermal expansion and contraction of reinforced concrete caused by changes in the ambient temperature of the structure. The larger the temperature difference, the longer the structure, and the greater the total temperature deformation caused by temperature changes. In the case of a constrained structure, the greater the additional stresses it causes, and conversely, the larger the distance between expansion joints, the greater the effect of temperature deformation on them. In architecture,
