撫順式爐干餾系統中循环瓦斯加热炉的瓦斯切换操作是一項笨重的体力劳动。每小时要切換一次,每次需四名体力好的工人,絞一吨重的大铊,切換一次要花5—7分鐘,由于切換时間长,影响干餾热量的及时供应,使火层波动大。因此,瓦斯切換机械化的实現,不仅減輕了工人的体力劳动,节省了劳动力(石油一厂东西原油全都使用瓦斯切換机械化后可节省48个劳动力),同时大大縮短了切換时間,由5分鐘縮短到2分鐘,从而保証了干餾热量的供应和干餾作业順利进行。石油一厂原来在东原油瓦斯切換采用汽动切換(见今年石油炼制第一期),由于蒸汽耗量大未得到广泛推广,后來改用馬达传动切换,目前在石油一、二两厂已推广使用。
