1988年8月8日,辽宁省黑山县白厂门满族镇降了一次历史上罕见的特大暴雨,从8月8日零点开始至7时止,总降雨量245毫米,平均降雨强度35毫米/小时,最大降雨强度100毫米/小时。洪水冲毁沙压了大片良田,冲毁桥梁、涵洞多座,公路多处、给该镇造成了约20万元的经济损失。然而,经过水土保持治理的珠宝山小流域,梯田却完好无损,塘坝、谷坊、鱼鳞坑、竹节壕工程也全部蓄水,树木、庄稼未遭受损害。
