中国化工学会上海分会於1957年三月三日举行第一届会员大会正式宣告成立。中国化工学会上海分会是在中华化学工业会原有基础上改组而成的。中华化学工业会在解放以后改为地方性学术团体,这次改组为全国性的中国化工学会的上海分会,对於团结上海化工科学技术工作者,推动科学研究,交流经验,一定可以发挥更大的作用。在这次大会上,王箴同志代表原中华化学工业会做了结束报告,略述中华化学工业会的起源及历年来会务活动情况,主要分为图书馆、出版工作、学术活动及其他工作四项。总的来说,中华化学工业会在以往州馀年中确曾做了一些学术工作,解决了一些生产问题。现在随着时代的进展,扩大会员组织,推广各种活动,是配合社会主义建设的需要。接着由苏元复同志报告中国化工学会上海分会的筹备经过,要求在原有基础上认真贯彻会章规定的任务和今后在具体工作上应注意之点,希望新理事会发挥集体力量,克服困难,进一步发挥力量,为向科学进军和完成国家
