Malamud’s novels mostly describe the typical Jewish life, full of Jewish moral and spiritual temperament, the strong Jewishness in his literature no doubt. However, in addition to the typical Jewishness of his literature, there is broader literary meaning beyond Jewishness. He regarded the Jews as representatives of the entire human race. In his works, he not only showed the Jewish world, but also revealed the tragic experience of the modern life. He established an inner allegory between Jewishness and universality, Survival status, which is universally applicable worldwide. Malamud’s collection of ancient Jewish traditions and Western modern civilization, beyond the narrow national boundaries, in the content and form of various cultural elements to absorb, fusion, forming his unique literature in cosmopolitan style.
