陆士谔的《新中国》以梦境幻想的艺术形式,想象描绘了中国实行“立宪”四十年之后国强民富的现代乌托邦盛景,作品对以上海为代表的未来中国政治民主、精神健康、科技发达的美妙景象进行了细致而生动的描写,构成了政治乌托邦、精神乌托邦、科技乌托邦的艺术世界,既充满了艺术想象的瑰丽色彩,又表达了作者强烈的爱国情感和时代思考,是晚清未来展望体小说的代表作之一。
