Yu Youren’s calligraphy practice is rich in all his life. Through the inheritance and study of ancient cursive books and the creation of standard cursory books for the benefit of the country and the people, he is a great accomplishment with immeasurable merits and deeds. His theory of calligraphy, art and calligraphy has become a succession of scholarly schools. From a historical point of view, the abolition of the imperial examination system in late Qing and early Republic of China made calligraphy lose its original cultural identity in society.
