This article discusses the process of computer-aided design of antenna reflectors and their components. The main design aid is a computer program that determines the cross-sectional dimensions of structural members based on optimization criteria. This program has a special formula, usually used for the design of this type of antenna structure. Like many other applications, this type of structure is represented by its analytical model. Only three linear displacement degrees of freedom are used at each node of the model, however, this special program simplifies coding and data processing, which is advantageous in terms of the size of the problem and speed of operation, although the size and operation of the problem The speed is basically dictated by the conditions of the structural analysis and is relatively unaffected by the additional conditions. The computational time required to complete several design / analysis cycles with this program is comparable to the time required to complete a single analysis cycle with a generic program. Several examples in this article are intended to show that for a structure with thousands of degrees of freedom and with reasonable computational time it is fruitful to use the improved design approach of this paper.
