感冒的典型症状是头痛、发热、鼻塞、流涕、咳嗽和全身乏力、酸痛等。但是,老年人患感冒往往缺乏这些典型症状,而表现出以下一些特征:上呼吸道症状轻或基本没有。老年人患感冒时很少有典型的咽痛、鼻塞、流涕等上呼吸道卡他性炎症。据临床统计,只有30%左右的老人会出现轻微的不典型的上呼吸道炎症表现。下呼吸道症状较明显而且较严重。临床统计表明,约有70%以上的老人感冒时会出现咳嗽、气急、胸闷和呼吸困难等症状,若伴有细菌感染还可能出现有浓痰。
