Objective To observe the clinical effect of Fujifilm IX glass ionomer and 3M Z250 light-curing composite resin for filling root caries in the elderly. Methods A total of 272 elderly patients with dental caries in the dental clinic from June 2011 to June 2012 were enrolled. A total of 272 teeth were included in the study. Patients were divided into groups A and B according to the order of their visits. 2 groups of patients should be filled before treatment of gingivitis and periodontitis should be the corresponding treatment until the inflammatory control before filling treatment. Group A was given Fuji IX glass ion-filled, Group B was given 3M Z250 light-cured composite resin filling. Follow-up observation of the filling effect of two filling materials. Results The filling success rate of Fuji IX glass ion was 99.03%, light-cured composite resin 97.85%, χ2 = 0.0182, P> 0.05 within six months after filling. There was no significant difference between the two groups Filling rate was 94.17%, light curing composite resin was 88.17%, χ2 = 11.915, P <0.05. The success rate of Fuji IX glass ion filling was higher than that of light curing composite resin. Filling success rate of Fuji IX glass ion for one and a half year 93.14%, light curing composite resin was 79.57%, χ2 = 30.883, P <0.05, Fuji IX glass ion filling success rate higher than the light curing composite resin. The most common case of failed filling is that the edges of the filling body are not in close contact, followed by a defect in the filling. In group A, there were 6 cases in which there was no close edge of filling, 5 cases of filling defect, 3 cases of filling falling off and 2 cases of secondary caries. In group B, there were 19 cases in which filling edge did not close and 11 cases occurred Filling defects, filling occurred in 7 cases off, 1 case of secondary caries. Conclusion Fuji IX glass ion-curable composite resin filled elderly patients with root caries in the near future no significant difference, but after filling one year Fuji IX glass ion was significantly higher than the success rate of light-cured composite resin, and glass ion filling operation simple, treatment Comfortable, worthy of clinical promotion.
