“Treading game” is a recent work by Louise Erdrich, a Native American writer. Fiction as the name, in the shadow game “chase ” and “defense ”, binary opposition is also a philosophical subversion and beyond the border. When her husband, Jill, peeked through her diary, Irene began to use a blue diary in which she recorded the facts about her life and marriage. Red diary is still placed in Jill can easily find the place, the diary also true or false experience, affecting the feelings of her husband. The two diaries of red and blue, her shame and reputation, her husband’s hatred and love constitute a binary opposition. She hopes to subvert these binary oppositions and gain genuine love and approval. In fact, these are just signs and games, as Derrida said. A love chase and escape, love is absent. Love does exist, but when people want to grab it, it slides into the next presence. In a unique way, Erdrich solves the eternal topic of “What is love ?,” “Gambling Game” is her new attempt in literary creation and her reflection on love and life.
