兰西锰矿(Rancieite)因首次发现于法国兰西地区而得名。它是一种表生矿物,常与其他表生锰矿物伴生,主要由锰碳酸盐矿物风化而成。其理想化学式为Mn_4~(+4)(Ca,Mn~(+4))O_9·3H_2O。以前曾有人将Rancieite译为钙硬锰矿,纤硬锰矿。由于它与硬锰矿在性质上差别很大,故重译为兰西锰矿。由于兰西锰矿稀少、结晶不好、颗粒细小等原因,在国外经过了110年的时间(1859—1969)才被肯定下来。1859年Leymerie首先在法国兰西地区发现了该矿物,后又相继在法国、古巴、
Rancieite was named for its first discovery in the French Lanxi region. It is a superficial mineral, often associated with other epiphytic manganese minerals, and is mainly formed by the weathering of manganese carbonate minerals. The ideal formula is Mn_4 ~ (+4) (Ca, Mn ~ (+4)) O_9 · 3H_2O. Rancieite was previously translated as calcium, manganite. Because of its very different nature and hard manganese ore, it is translated as Lanxi manganese ore. As Lanxi manganese sparse, poor crystallization, small particles and other reasons, after a lapse of 110 years abroad (1859-1969) was only confirmed. Leymerie first discovered the mineral in Lancôme, France in 1859, and then successively in France, Cuba,
