2006年9月20日,国土资源部决定成立地质勘查基金领导小组,下设基金管理中心筹备办公室。2011年,经过5年的试点运行后,中央地勘基金迈入正式运行新阶段。地勘基金启动运行以来,基金管理中心在国土资源部、财政部领导的亲切关怀和两部有关司局的指导帮助下,牢牢把握基金定位,认真践行地质找矿新机制要求,着力完善体制机制,积极推进多方联动,扎实开展项目组织实施,进一步规范内部运行管理,各项工作取得了显著成效。
