加拿大专家华尔德士在大学读书时开始研究栽植枪和苗弹造林技术,其技术意图是要延长栽植造林季节,避免在春、秋两季争劳力。1957—1962年间,栽植枪和苗弹在实验林场进行了试验,效果良好。1961年华尔德士发表了研究报告(请参阅本刊1962年10期)。以后,1962—1964年在加拿大阿尔伯达山区又进行了生产性试验(1962—1963年结果参见本期第六页)。加拿大西北纸浆公司1965年计划用苗弹造林10万株。为了了解栽植枪和苗弹的使用方法,1965年1月日本藤谷机械公司邀请华尔德士訪日进行表演。日本现在已仿制了栽植枪和苗弹弹壳。新西兰、澳大利亚、美国等都准备试验这一造林方法。栽植枪的结构见下图1,栽植时情况见图2。
Canadian expert Walt Disney began studying planting guns and seedling silvicultural techniques at his college degree. His technical intention was to extend the planting season and avoid competing in spring and autumn. Between 1957 and 1962, planting guns and seedlings were tested in experimental forest farms, with good results. In 1961 Walt Disney published a study (see Issue 1962, Issue 10). Later, in 1962-1964, another productive experiment was carried out in the mountainous Alberta, Canada (for the 1962-1963 results, see page 6 of this issue). Northwest Pulp & Paper Company plans to plant 100,000 seedlings with seedlings in 1965. In order to understand the use of planting guns and seedlings, January 1965 Fujitani Machinery Co., Ltd. of Japan invited Wal-Mart to perform in Japan. Japan has now copied a planting gun and seedling shell. New Zealand, Australia, the United States are all ready to experiment with this method of afforestation.
