Oil prices rose in the first ten years and reached their peak by 1980 (see Figure 1), which has had a significant impact on world shipping. As a result, shipowners demanded the propulsion system with the best overall economy, and new ships would not change the high demand for propulsion efficiency, even if expensive oil prices were as stable as one might expect. All the most important aspects that should be taken into account before the scrapping of the economy affect the economy of the aggregate are: investment costs; operating costs; reliability; future operating conditions; value of resale.
