1986年2月8日——阴历除夕的上午,顾秀莲省长在省冶金工业厅王宏民厅长陪同下,到南京钢铁厂看望在生产第一线的钢铁职工。顾省长亲临一轧、烧结、炼铁、炼钢等分厂现场视察生产情况,并和现场的工作人员亲切握手,致以节日的祝贺和问候。人们对省长在繁忙的工作中专程到钢铁企业来看望大家很受感动,顾省长说:你们在生产第一线辛苦工作,我应该来看望你们。亲切的交谈中,省长和钢铁职工心息相通。
