江口式铁矿是前寒武系沉积变质类型的矿床，在我国南方一些省份中有一定代表性。据不完全统计，这种类型铁矿储量占我省铁矿总储量的30％，省内大部分易选铁矿来自这个类型。但是由于铁矿品位普遍较低，且以赤铁矿为主，所以“贫中找富”、“赤中找磁”是多年来的研究课题，近几年来，我队对几个大中型矿床做了较详细的物探工作，取得了较好的效果。
