Since the early 1990s, Sino-Finnish economic and trade relations have entered a period of rapid development. From 1991 to 1997, the trade volume between the two countries increased at an annual rate of more than 20%, and the trade volume increased 3.5 times in seven years. From January to November of 1998, the volume of trade between the two sides increased by 78.5% to 1.45 billion U.S. dollars, and its growth rate ranked top in China’s trade with EU countries. Compared with the same period in 1997, China’s exports to Finland increased by 24%, imports increased by 100%, and bilateral electromechanical trade increased by approximately 120%.
